Rules and Regulations
This sport demands discipline and respect for each and every living thing in and around the Range. There would be no compromises on Safety Rules listed below.
Club Admission
- All members of IISc Gymkhana are eligible to apply for joining the IISc Archery Club
- New members will be admitted considering the current status and space availability in the club.
- Decisions regarding recruitment of a new members into the club will be undertaken by the convener and instructors
Session Rules
- Archers are NOT allowed to shoot alone. Shooting can happen only when a minimum of 2 members are present at the range.
- New archers can shoot only with the approval of the instructor and under the supervision of a senior archer.
- Membership of an archer will be cancelled, if absent for 3 consecutive sessions without informing the instructor or the convener.
Safety Regulations
- Never release a bow without an arrow.
- An archer shall NOT draw an arrow if there is anyone in front of them.
- If the arrow comes off the rest or misaligns during a shot, the archer is strictly prohibited from releasing the arrow.
- The archer must start the shot process all over again
- DO NOT attempt to correct the arrow while drawing or when fully drawn with the arrow.
- All the archers are required to keep track of their arrows
- All personal arrows are to be marked individually by the archers.
- The club is not responsible for issues arising due to mixing of unlabelled arrows.
- Archers have to deposit their arrows inside the archery shed after every session.
- Archers are NOT allowed to take their arrows away from the range without seeking permission from the convener.
- During a session, arrows will be issued by the club instructor just before shooting.
Disciplinary Rules
- Every archer will have to comply with the instructions from the instructor and other senior members during a session.
- The convener as well as the instructors have the right to take disciplinary action against any archer due to insubordination and/or failure to adhere by the rules of the club including, but not limited to, demonstrating poor sportsmanship.
- The convener as well as the instructors also have the right to cancel the membership of an archer with prior warnings and notifications.
General Information
- A session generally lasts for about 1 to 2 hours
- Archers have to be on time for every session.
- All the archers will be ranked according to their performance and attendance.
- Any decision made regarding the club has to go through the club’s core committee
Communication
- The Club currently uses WhatsApp as the means of communication to all members of the Club.
- Members are responsible for keeping themselves of informed of session schedules (and last minute changes) the club will not be responsible for the lack of information.
Accounts and Fees
- Everyone is required to send the club fees no later than the 5th of every month to the treasurer.
- Personal archery kits include 6 arrows in them. If your arrows get damaged, additional arrows can be bought from the club stock.
- Every club member has the right to know the account information and investments of the club.
- Any member can request this information from the club convener.
- If the club convener refuses to release the information, the members have the right to complain to the Senior Sports Officer or President of IISc Gymkhana.
Beginner Training
- It is advised that beginners attend all the session during the training period.
- Unless the Instructor is satisfied, the new archers will have to keep doing stretching exercises and will not be allowed to shoot without the permission of the instructor.
- Beginners would be trained for the first month on club’s equipment. Members, who wish to continue the sport, are strongly advised to buy their own equipment at the end of their training.
- The club will make arrangement for an order to be placed with a supplier, however you are free to procure equipment from any other source.
- If you choose to order through the club, you will be allowed to use the club’s equipment till the order arrives at no extra cost.
- Otherwise, you are required to pay ₹ 500 for using the club equipment beyond the first month (subject to availability).
- This allowance of continued use of club equipment, even against a rental, is at the sole discretion of the instructors and the convener. And such a facility may be withdrawn at any time.
Disclaimer
The club is not bound to pay for any damage to equipment (bow/arrows/stabilizer/bow stand/string/etc.).
